Dylan began swimming in high school, competing for the Pleasant Valley High School Vikings in Chico, CA and for the Chico AquaJets (CAJ) club team. With CAJ, Dylan coached youth swimmers through the team’s ‘Summer Jets’ program. In college, Dylan swam at the NCAA Div. III level for the Grinnell College Pioneers. As a Pioneer, Dylan specialized in breast stroke and individual medley events. He helped set a school and Midwest Conference record in the 400 yard medley relay his junior year.

Outside of the pool, Dylan took elective course work in coaching methods, and took up triathlon to stay in shape during the offseason. He has since competed in numerous races, including USAT Olympic Distance Age Group Nationals in 2013 and his first IM 70.3 in 2014.

 

As a coach, Dylan seeks to foster general comfortability in the water and improve overall speed. By focusing on growing athletes’ awareness in the water, building their knowledge of swimming fundamentals, and developing efficient stroke mechanics, Dylan ensures that any athlete, from any background, can arrive at T1 ready for strong bike and run performances.

Julie began practicing Yoga & Pilates primarily for cross training and recovery from running.  She quickly became aware of the numerous additional benefits including injury prevention & decreased muscle fatigue.  Already a Group Fitness Instructor (ACE) and Mad Dogg Spinning Instructor, Julie attended Clayton Yoga Teacher Training and achieved her Yoga Teacher Training Certification (RYT 200).  Julie can integrate specific exercises into your training plan to assist you in achieving your goals. 

A strong core increases your overall athletic ability!

Julie is a mental health professional (LCSW) and also recognizes the strong connection between the mind & body.  Based upon your individual needs, Julie can recommend specific Yoga Poses known to help alleviate specific concerns including Mental Fatigue & Exhaustion, Depression, Stress/Anxiety and Insomnia.

About Coach Paul

Coach Paul began coaching in college as a Ski Coach at an NCAA level college and has since found triathlon as a form of staying fit.  As a Husband, Father, and athlete himself, he understands the need for balance between sports and life in general.

As a 12-time IM finisher and having coached many more athletes to their IM success, Coach Paul has shown an overwhelming passion for the challenges that face the new or progressing long-distance triathlete.

Coach has been a USAT Certified Coach for over 6 years and has furthered his coaching expertise through attendance at various clinics and seminars presented by some of the finest coaches in the world including Gordo Byrne, Bobby McGee, Justin Daerr, and others.  Key to this experience was attendance at the USAT Art and Science of Coaching Symposium where many of these coaches were presenters.
